INFORMATION ON MINIMUM PASSPORT VALIDITY PERIOD REQUIRED FOR ENTRANCE TO TÜRKİYE, 3.01.2022
We would like to inform that the Law on Foreigners and International Protection, which entered into force on 11 April 2014, stipulates that entry into Türkiye is to be refused to any foreigner whose passport or travel document expires less than sixty days after the date of expiration of the foreigner’s visa, visa exemption or residence permit.
However, in accordance with the Council of Ministers Decision, which was published in the Official Gazette dated 27 April 2014, a temporary allowance has been granted to permit such foreigners to enter Türkiye only until 31 December 2014.
As of 1 January 2015, foreigners wishing to enter Türkiye must carry a passport or travel document with an expiration date at least 60 days beyond the date of expiration of their visa, visa exemption, or residence permit.
Considering that visa exemption period for Ordinary and official Swedish passport holders is 90 days, starting 1 January 2015, Swedish citizens will be required to have a passport valid at least 150 days on the date they will enter Türkiye.
At present, for Swedish ordinary and official passport holders traveling to Türkiye, it will be enough to have a passport with validity period covering 90 days.
