Representation of the Ottoman Empire in Sweden dates back to the 17th century. The first representative Aslan Ağa was appointed in 1637 as an Ambassador Plenipotentiary.

The Ottoman Empire's first resident representative in Stockholm was Murat Efendi, who served between the years 1877-1880, and the Empire’s last representative in Stockholm was Galip Kemal Bey who served between the years 1921-1923. The first representative of the Republic of Türkiye in Stockholm was Laik Mukbil Bey who served as Chargé d'affaires between the years 1923-1926. 

The Office of the Defense Attaché, the Office of the Counsellor for Commercial Affairs, the Office of the Counsellor for Religious Services, the Office of the Counsellor for Cultural Affairs and Promotion, the Office of the Counsellor for Education, the Office of the Counsellor for Labor and Social Security as well as the Office of the Counsellor for Press exist within the structure of the Embassy.
