We welcome the arrival in Tripoli on 30 March 2016 and taking office of Mr. Fayez Mustafa Al-Sarraj, President of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord and the six members of the Presidential Council, formed in accordance with the Libyan Political Agreement.

We hope that this development will be the starting point to achieve lasting peace and stability in Libya. We expect the Presidential Council to act in a spirit of dialogue and reconciliation with all segments of Libya and expedite efforts towards ensuring nationwide security. We call upon all our Libyan brothers to give a strong support to the Government of National Accord, to this end.
