In Mogadishu, a terrorist attack was perpetrated at noon today (1 January) against the personnel of a Turkish civil society organization conducting humanitarian aid activities. We have learned with sorrow that a Turkish citizen has been wounded and a Somali citizen has lost his life in the attack. We wish God's mercy upon the Somali citizen who lost his life in the attack, convey our condolences to his relatives and wish a speedy recovery to our wounded citizen.

We condemn this attack and expect that the perpetrators will be apprehended and brought to justice.

Turkey will continue to stand by the people of Somalia in order to be able to contribute to the establishment of peace and welfare in Somalia.
