We have learned with sorrow that an armed attack was perpetrated against India's Consulate in Herat this morning (23 May).

Turkey strongly condemns this attack, as any attack perpetrated against diplomats who represent their countries abroad.

However, we are relieved by the fact that the attack was rendered ineffective thanks to the intervention of Afghan security forces.

As always, Turkey will maintain its resolute stance with regard to the international solidarity and fight against terrorism, which cannot be legitimized under any circumstances.
